Rob Mazurek. Episodes
- Music
Deep heat. Silence, pause. Pulsation, tenuous. Cicadas scream into sleepy visions of shadowy shade. Windkind messages push hot air upvalley. Carress, thrash, pass - strings, tones, hints with clues. Walks to the Spring.
All Music composed and performed by Rob Mazurek
- Space
All over the south of Spain, quiet and calm reign in the afternoon hours of summer.
People sleep. Wildlife hides in the shade, slightly breathless.
The only sound are the cicadas screaming into the fiery light of day. Everything stands still waiting for dusk.
Everything besides Rob Mazurek in a century´s old stone house and a mint condition antique Bosendorfer grand piano.
If you were lucky enough to have been strolling in August of 2009 around Ferreirola, the last little white village of this remote mountain valley of the Alpujarra, you would have heard wafts of piano and cornet floating through the streets - caressing the high rock walls of this deep river valley. And if you followed that sound you would have found a house that is the home of Cat Jary, the director of the local music festival, Musica en las Montañas.Rob took to the piano, Ivan sensed the motion and took to the mics.
What emerged were these episodes that turned the long hot hours into beauty. A beauty that lifted our steps at sunset to the bubbling spring in search for more.
- EarthFrom one valley to another, one piano for another. This music goes to support Romayne Wheeler and his important work with the Tarahumara Relief Fund.
